Year 5s investigate soil

Today is World Soil Day, which is the 5 December 2018.

World Soil Day is a great time to get messy. The Year 5 class started to investigate soils and different types of soils. We learnt that you can compare soil to an old man; they both need water and are very fragile and crusty. We learnt about the fact you can smell the aromas of the soil to see how healthy it is. We also did a ribbon test to see how much clay there was in the soil. The clay in the soil holds more moisture. We decided that soil is fun to play with.

Realising how much clay is in this soil sample is quite fun!
