The Art in Maths

Towards the end of last Semester the Year 5/6 class explored the mathematical concept of transformation, which led to them drawing a number of their own geometric shapes, as well as playing with scale to enlarge and reduce the size of shapes using grids. The end goal of the activity was for the year 6s especially to create some geometric artwork that they could then enlarge onto the panels where the bag hangs outside the classroom. Using skills in measurement, location and transformation, they took a design and then drew it onto the panels, ready to be painted this Term. Keep watching this space as our artwork unfolds and be prepared to be delighted at the colourful transformation to the front of the classroom!
